What is the winner selection process?
Judging in the hackathon happens in two stages. On the hackathon’s second day, 24th of January, a panel of judges will pick 3 teams from each challenge to qualify for the finals. On February 5th in a grand finale event, judging panels will score the teams and a winner for each challenge will be determined.

What are the criteria for winner selection?
Each challenge will be judged according to different criteria such as: business viability, technological viability, innovation, team effort and social impact (see challenge pages for details).

Is there a maximum number of participants in a team?
Teams should not exceed 6 participants. From our experience the best team size is typically 4-5 participants.

Can we compete with a pre-existing project?
Yes, as long as you keep working and advancing your project during the hackathon to match the challenge guidelines.

What happens in the Exposure Event (meetup)?
In the meetup we will review the hackathon challenges in depth. You will also have time to ask questions, find additional teammates and network. Each team must send at least one representative to this event.

Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes, but please be responsible for it - the event organizers are not liable for any loss or damage.

Can a team come up with a project that is not inspired by the challenges or is it mandatory to work on the given challenges?
Teams can come up with their own creative projects as long as they are related to one of the challenges.

Can we work from home and just arrive for the judging?
No. Your team has to work on the project on the hackathon premises. It's part of the fun and it is what creates the sense of a joint effort. If your team has to leave for a certain time, please let us know.

What if we have to arrive late to the hackathon?
Please let us know in advance and we might be able to make it work - but no promises.

What will I eat?
We will provide kosher food and beverages throughout the day and night. There will be vegan options. If you have any other dietary limitations, please mention them in your application.

Where will I sleep?
We will provide a sleeping area with mattresses and bean bags to relax and get some shut-eye. We recommend bringing anything that would make you feel comfortable - from blankets to onesies. We must warn though, that the nature of the event is intese so don't expect to sleep much.

What should I bring?
Bring anything that might help you be more productive or comfortable. Other than that, we have you covered.
